business portrait red deer alberta white background

Business photography continues to be busy  in 2015. This client required a classic head shot to be used on the website and printed media for a company in the petroleum industry. Clients want fresh, up to date and eye catching images, and white backgrounds seem to be the hot trend.

We offer business head shots with full retouching and a quick turn around time. Pricing includes copyright-free, full resolution files suitable for all virtual and publication requirements.

Fresh Business Portraits – Hunter Photographics

blog business portrait_9951

In the last few weeks I have been shooting a lot of business portraits and head shots. Sometimes all a customer requires for a business head shot is a straight forward “head and shoulders” image. However recently I am finding that my customers are interested in having a more personalized look for the portraits they use on their business cards, brochures and on-line. This makes for fun shooting sessions and images that are really interesting and stretch beyond the standard head shot.

This image has been created  for Coaching for Solutions in Red Deer, Alberta. I am looking forward to seeing the fresh new images on-line on their website.

One Image Four Ways – Studio Photography – Red Deer, Alberta

Each year I photograph many head shots. I thought in today’s post I would share a few different looks you can achieve from the same head shot image. The vast majority of the head shots I do are shot for use in websites, for business cards or publications. Many are the classic business portrait. Sometimes, however, it is nice to alter the classic image just a little to make it more eye catching and fresh, especially on-line where a picture that is a little different makes people stop and look.

The first image is a classic color studio image shot against a grey background, grey is a nice neutral to use as a background, especially if the shot will be used in different applications.

The second image is again in color but a bit desaturated. This gives a fresher more modern look.

The third image is even more desaturated plus has increased contrast. This creates a more stylized image as it is floating between color and black and white.

The final image is black and white. Always a favorite. Timeless and classic.

I always like it when a business portrait is altered just a little for on-line use. The image seems to have more personality and makes the image stand out.

Studio Portrait in Cool Tones – Studio Photography – Red Deer, Alberta

studio portraitI’ve noticed a trend in some high end magazines where portraits have their tones shifted into cooler, more desaturated tones. It think it takes a certain style of portrait for this to work. This straight forward pose with a simple studio background seemed to be the perfect candidate for that style of coloration. A great style to work with for solo portraits or even head shots for someone in a creative field.

Business Head Shots – Business Photography – Red Deer, Alberta

(Please click on the above images to view the gallery.)

Business head shots are a type of photography that always seems to be in demand. Company’s like to have well polished, professional images for business cards, websites, promotional material, advertising and annual reports. Often I complete head shot photography in the studio, but on occasion I will do the photography on location with a portable studio set up if it works logistically better for the business or organization.

The above images are a few samples from a fairly recent event. The head shots were created on location with the portable studio setup during the organization’s yearly meeting. In this situation working on location made the most sense as the subjects being photographed had traveled from municipalities from all over Central Alberta.

In the near future I will share some “event photography” from the same function. I really enjoy doing this type of work as it is a very refreshing environment to work in and you meet so many interesting people.
