Opus Daily Practice – the rest of Opus – days 16 to 28

This post is “the rest of Opus Daily Practice”. A bit of traveling managed to happen at the end of this project which meant I was able to post to Instagram, but my cell phone data plan was unhappy with the usage needed for blogging. Below are the rest of the pieces created for the 28 days of Opus Daily Practice.

Opus Daily Practice- day 16 and 17

Just a quick post today with my Opus Daily Practice update.

Day 16 was focused on matting and framing a set of drawings headed to a gallery on the west coast.

Day 17 was some work on future ideas and some thumbnail  sketches for future drawings.

Day 17 also saw some “road knitting ” completed on a Cowichsn inspired toque,

Opus Daily Practice – Days 12, 13, 14 and 15

I’m a little bit behind on blogging about my Opus Daily Practice, so I thought I would do one multi day post instead.

Day 12 – The theme was forest. I managed to finish off a painting based on a forest area in Kootenay National Park.

I also worked away on a naturally dyed ear flap hat.

Day 13 – was a “work in progress” day, knowing that I still needed to complete more drawings before Friday

Day 14 – involved finishing up 3 miniature drawings

plus work on another Cowichan inspired hat.

Day 15 – involved another side of an artistic practice which included documenting all the drawings and the start of matting and framing each piece so that they will be ready to go to the gallery on Pender Island.

"Canada Flag #1"

We are more than half way through Opus Daily Practice. It has been fun consciously working each day, plus watching others post their work on Instagram and Twitter.

Opus Daily Practice – day 10

#opusdailypractice

Opus Daily Practice day 10. The theme was “folk”.  “Folk” isn’t far from a lot of the work I create. Today’s work is an “in progress” 2″x3.5″ ink drawing, and an ear flap style toque knit of naturally dyed wool. Lots of items “in progress” due to the Opus Daily Practice project, soon I will need to take a day or two to actually get some pieces finished.

Opus Daily Practice – day 9

#opusdailypractice

Opus Daily Practice day 9. The theme was “muted”. As much as I thought about creating a muted piece to fit the theme I am currently working on, the more the weather outside called to the theme. So after a quick snowshoe, I set about to do a quick , muted, en plein air watercolour. Soft, muted, and a limited palette. Photographed still wet, as it was going to take a bit to dry in sub zero temperatures.

I also managed a bit of dyeing. Pomegranate for one skein and lac for another. I’m being very economical with my wool at the moment as I need to place another order….crazy when you think I order 25 lbs at a time!

Opus Daily Practice – day 7

Opus Daily Practice day 7 ( #opusdailypractice ). The theme was “urban”, citing the style of Basquiat as a style. Each day I have been doing a daily practice with both art and handmade, today is no exception, except today I will show both pieces separately as the styles are so vastly different.

#opusdailypracticeThe painting, “Leftovers”, is 8″x10″ and acrylic on paper.

I also have another Cowichan inspired hat half-finished. This will be headed west once completed as all my hats have sold out on the island.

February has been a busy month for creativity!
